GENERAL CONDITIONS
ACCOMMODATION:
Those who choose to stay in a private home should be aware that they are going to live with an Italian family. This requires respecting the plain rules of cohabitation. Family accommodation is not to be confused with hotels or apartments. If you are undecided as to what style of accommodation you prefer we are available to assist you and answer your questions. Accommodation starts from the Sundays prior to courses and ends on the Saturdays after. Arrivals and departures before these days are at the discretion of the school and should be notified suitably in advance. They involve extra charges according to the standard fee list (an extra day). Double room accommodation is not always available, unless bookings have been made by couples or friends. Students can request accommodation for friends and relatives, although charges are extra for those who don't frequent an Il Sillabo course. We kindly ask that our students vacate their accommodation by 12 noon.
SUPER INTENSIVE COURSE:
During the two extra hours, there is a minimum of two and a maximum five participants per class. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, this course will be converted into a Combined Course.
COOKING, DRAWING, PAINTING COURSES:
When there is just one participant in a cooking lesson, we offer a 2-hour lesson including 2 recipes for the price of a normal group lesson. When there is just one participant in a drawing and painting course, we offer lessons of half the duration of a normal group course (for example: instead of an 8-hour course in a minigroup we offer an individual 4-hour lesson for the same price of 125 €).
ARRIVAL PROCEDURE:
We advise notifying us some days in advance of the expected time of arrival. Once in San Giovanni, unless otherwise pre-arranged, students should remain at the railway station and call 055.9123238 or 339.7219271 for information on accommodation.
PLACEMENT TEST / CERTIFICATE
Non-beginner students are provided with our placement test when they get our confirmation letter. On the first day, class starts at 9am for beginners. For students who are not beginners, the placement test should be returned at the latest on the Friday prior to arrival. We also ask them to arrive at 8.45 on the first day for a short interview before class to confirm the class placement. Afterwards there is an introduction and welcome meeting (11.00 - 12.00) and the students get a small info pack. On request, students receive an Attendance Certificate upon completion of their course.
ENROLMENT:
A deposit of 200 € is requested to confirm course and accommodation bookings. Enrolment must be made preferably within one month from the beginning of courses. The enrolment form must be sent to Il Sillabo by Internet, post, fax or e-mail and filled in with the copy of payment receipt relative to the account. The balance must be paid cash on the first week of the course.
HOLIDAYS/CANCELLATIONS:
Lessons missed because of holidays won't be made up. For cancellations a written notification is required within 30 days before the beginning of the course to receive back 75% of the deposit paid. For cancellations within 30 days or less, the whole deposit will be retained. During the stay cancellations will not be refunded. Whatever the case, Il Sillabo offers the option of a voucher equivalent to the deposit, valid for a year from the date of the first application. The school reserves the right to cancel any course if the minimum number of students is not reached. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the Super Intensive course will be converted in a Combined Course.
DEPOSITS PAYMENTS:
VISA - MASTERCARD (4% credit card charge).
International Bank cheque - International money order (Bank account n. 24243/90 - Banca di Credito Cooperativo di San Giovanni V.no (AR) - CAB 8811 - ABI 71600 - SWIFT CODE - ICRA IT 3F MJO )
For all bank transfers students will be always asked to pay an extra charge of 10 - 15 euro due to bank expenses. For studio apartments a higher deposit is required (according to price).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Il Sillabo is not responsible for lost or stolen property on its premises. It is also not responsible for damage to personal effects on its premises. In the apartments rented to students there may be a deposit of 150 which is returned at the end of the period if no damage has been caused to the premises in the meantime.
HEATING:
Il Sillabo reserves the right to levy an extra charge to cover the costs of central heating during the autumn or winter months. In Italy central heating is controlled by law for environmental reasons and so, generally, the internal temperature is set at 20°C. and hours in which is can be operated defined (not continuous). In any case, central heating is allowed in the period from November 1 to April 15, unless otherwise directed by the local council.
INSURANCE:
We advise students to take out medical and personal insurance before leaving their country of departure.
MINIMUM/MAXIMUM AGE:
The minimum age for course participation is 14 years. There is no maximum age.
